During
the week to 29 October 1999, Iraq exported a total of 15.6 million barrels
of crude oil for an estimated revenue of $308 million dollars. Since
oil exports under phase VI began on 1 June there have been 330.3 million
barrels exported for an estimated revenue of $6.050 billion. To date,
about 43 per cent of loadings have been made at Ceyhan. In the
week to 22 October, Iraq had exported 20.6 million barrels with an estimated
value of $434 million.
As
reported earlier, the Security Council's 661 Committee has approved 80
contract for the sale of Iraqi oil with a total volume of 388.7 million
barrels (221.5m Basrah Light, 167.2m Kirkuk).
The
Office of the Iraq Programme has now received 741 contracts for humanitarian
supplies worth $1.810 billion under phase VI. Of the 532 contracts
circulated to the Security Council's 661 Committee, 383 worth $946 million
have been approved. So far $1.56 billion worth of contracts for
humanitarian supplies have been approved under phase IV and $1.5 billion
under phase V.
At
present there are 300 contracts worth $637.4 million dollars for the
purchase of humanitarian supplies on hold: in phase IV, 17 contracts
worth $31.7 million dollars are on hold; in phase, V 193 contracts worth
$475.1 million and in phase VI, 90 contracts worth $130.6 million.
The
holds include a contract for the supply of 16 heart and lung machines
ordered by the Ministry of Health. The contract is with a
Jordanian company for the supply of equipment from Danish manufacturers.
The reason given for the hold is the need for further technical
specifications and a concern that one item is on the list of notifiable
items established by resolution 1051 which provides for the notification and
monitoring of potential dual use items. Each heart/lung machine
includes a computer for monitoring the condition of the patient. The
contract was submitted on 17 August and put on hold on 14 October.
OIP is working with the concerned missions to provide the information
requested.
To
date OIP has received 1259 contracts worth $660 million for the supply of
oil industry spare parts and equipment. The 661 Committee has approved
contracts worth $247.2 million for phase IV and put $49.7 million on hold.
For phase V, $322.8 million worth of oil sector contracts have been
received, $140.4 million approved and $99 million is currently on hold. For
Phase VI, the OIP has received $39.6 million dollars worth of contracts,
