The Workshop will bring together senior government policy makers, representatives of local authorities, officials from the United Nations system, researchers and experts, as well as practitioners, to share lessons learned and best practices in combating rural poverty.
The workshop is being organized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA/DSD) in collaboration with the UN-Water Decade Programme on Capacity Development (UNW-DPC) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
The workshop will provide an opportunity for strengthening technical and institutional capacity of key government institutions and policy makers in developing and implementing sustainable agriculture, rural development and irrigation water management policies with specific thrust on rural poverty reduction.
