Back to: Ad Hoc Committee Ad Hoc Committee DocumentsThe Ad Hoc Committee on a Comprehensive and Integral International Convention on Protection and Promotion of the Rights and Dignity of Persons with Disabilities is a subsidiary body of the United Nations General Assembly, composed of Member States, and established to consider proposals for an international convention on the rights of persons with disabilities. The Ad Hoc Committee held its first session from 29 July to 9 August 2002, and its second session from 16 to 27 June 2003. To contribute to the work of the Ad Hoc Committee, the General Assembly encouraged States to hold meetings and seminars, and invited inter-governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, human rights institutions and independent experts to make suggestions to the Ad Hoc Committee. This section lists the major documents related to the process of elaboration of a convention on the rights of persons with disabilities, including the Reports of the Ad Hoc Committee, the General Assembly Resolutions on which each session was based, as well as contributions and statements from States, inter-governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, human rights institutions and independent experts.
