New Permanent Representative of Spain Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Spain to the United Nations, Jorge Moragas, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guterres today.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Moragas was the Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister from 2011 to 2017, while concurrently serving as the Secretary of the National Security Council starting in 2012.

From 2015 to 2016, Mr. Moragas was the People’s Party Campaign Manager for the Spanish General Elections, while from 2008 to 2011 he was Coordinator to the Presidency and International Relations of the People’s Party.  He also served as Executive Secretary of International Relations for the People’s Party from 2002 to 2008.  He has also been a member of the Spanish Parliament for Barcelona from 2004 to 2017.

Mr. Moragas has a law degree from the University of Barcelona, and a master’s degree from the Barcelona Center of International Studies.

Born in Barcelona in 1965, he is married with two daughters.
