New Permanent Representative of Nicaragua Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Nicaragua to the United Nations, Sidhartha Francisco Marín Aráuz, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guterres today.

Mr. Marín Aráuz, who joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 2003, was most recently Minister Adviser to the President of Nicaragua for foreign policy and international affairs, having previously served as his country’s Ambassador to Ecuador from 2009 to 2006 and as a diplomat at its embassy in Peru from 2006 to 2009.

Among his other functions, he has been a Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, representing Nicaragua before different international mechanisms, as well as the President’s special delegate to the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

Mr. Marín Aráuz holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the Catholic University of Nicaragua.
