In Algeria, the United Nations launched the Sahrawi Refugee Response Plan, covering the next two years — 2024-2025. The plan calls for $214 million to ensure food stability, a reliable water supply as well as to address the nutritional requirements of people living in camps in Tindouf.

The new Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations, Amar Bendjama, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guterres today.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Algeria from New York on Tuesday morning, 1 November, to attend the Summit of the League of Arab States.

The International Support Group for Lebanon, which includes the United Nations, issued a statement today that notes with concern the continued lack of cooperation among Lebanese political actors that has precipitated a presidential vacuum.

In Chad, the United Nations and partners have assisted some 250,000 people affected by flooding; however, only one quarter of the $70 million needed to help 8000,000 people has been received.
