Sylvana Foa, Spokesman for the Secretary-General, at today's noon briefing said the Secretary-General had met this morning with Prime Minister Costas Simitis of Greece and Foreign Minister Theodoros Pangalos. They discussed Cyprus, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, as well the overall situation in the region.

Sylvana Foa, Spokesman for the Secretary-General, told correspondents at today's noon briefing that the Secretary-General had met with a delegation from the Congress of Racial Equality at 10:30 a.m. to discuss the situation in Liberia.

Ahmad Fawzi, Deputy Spokesman for the Secretary-General, told correspondents at today's noon briefing that the situation in Liberia had deteriorated significantly over the weekend. The decision to evacuate United Nations personnel had not yet been made, though most of the military observers had moved into the United States compound.
