Work of the General Assembly on violence against women In 1993, the General Assembly adopted the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women (A/RES/48/104, of 19 December 1993). In 1999, the General Assembly designated 25 November as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. In recent years, the General Assembly has dealt with a number of particular forms, or aspects of violence against women. Since 2000, the topics covered by the General Assembly have included: All forms of violence against women The General Assembly also mandated the preparation of an in-depth study, by the Secretary-General, on all forms of violence against women.
