Program-for-Results (PforR) Innovative Financing: The Leveraging of Public Expenditures for Better Development Results

  • Date: 15 July 2015, 3:30pm - 6:00pm
  • Location: Elilly Mars Hall

Organised by

World Bank Group- Program for Results (PforR) team

Summary

Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will require significant effort. Development partners are exploring new ways to leverage domestic and international financing, build institutions and capacity, and create a different kind of dialogue that focuses on how to achieve the desired results.

Program-for-Results (PforR), an innovative financing tool introduced by the World Bank in 2012, works differently than traditional lending products by using a country’s own institutions and processes, and linking funding to the achievement of measurable and verified results.

This session will provide an opportunity for attendees to discuss PforR’s potential to contribute to achieving the SDGs through its direct focus on development results. Participants will engage with a panel of development practitioners from various finance and planning ministries as well as multilateral and bilateral agencies.

Speakers:

Hartwig Schafer, Vice President of Operations, Policy and Country Services, World Bank

Fadia M. Saadah, Manager, Program-for-Results Financing, World Bank

H.E. Ato Mekuria Haile, Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Construction, Ethiopia

Servacius Likwelile, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Tanzania

Kapil Kapoor, Director for Strategy and Operational Policies, African Development Bank

Paul O’Brien, Vice President for Policy and Campaigns, Oxfam
