Summary
More than 20% of the contract value dedicated to development finance is redirected through corruption. It leaves the countries and its citizens in a worsen-off situation, since it will affect the decision of granting more development funds to the country. Promoting transparency is critical to combat corruption in financing for development. It ensures the people who is in poor condition could benefit at the most. This side event will discuss strategies to improve the transparency, and more, address the important roles of civil society and citizens in combating corruption.
