Critical and emerging issues in FfD: opportunities for a multiyear planning framework
Organized by:
Civil Society Financing for Development (FfD) Group (including the Women’s Working Group on FfD)
Summary:
Maintaining the relevance of the FfD follow-up process requires proper contextualization of the monitoring and normative agenda within current events, critical dynamics and emerging new issues. This also means that the FfD framework needs to constantly navigate pressures for adaptation to new circumstances while maintaining the integrity of the FfD commitments. The side event will explore the implications of the evolving macroeconomic and political conjunctures on the FfD agenda, with special but not exclusive reference to the shifting terms of the trade, technology and systemic reforms. The side event will also explore opportunities and challenges for the development of FfD regional processes and mechanisms and advance proposals on a multiyear planning framework that could provide greater continuity and intensity to the FfD follow-up.
