Making finance work for sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific

Summary:
The objective of this side event is to inform participating policy makers and stakeholders of the ECOSOC forum of the latest policy thinking in Asia and the Pacific on the priority issues, and promote broader debate on how finance can best support sustainable development in the region and worldwide. The side event will invite ministers, central bank governors, senior policy makers and renowned experts to share their perspectives on three key pillars of financing for sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific, namely effective public finance, robust infrastructure investment, and financial market development to provide inclusive financial services for all. It will build on the important outcomes of the 4th High-Level Dialogue on Financing for Development in Asia and the Pacific, which was jointly hosted by ESCAP and Ministry of Finance of Sri Lanka in Bangkok on 28-29 April 2017.
