Supporting domestic resource mobilisation through Tax Inspectors Without Borders

Event Details

Organized by:

UNDP, OECD, TIWB Secretariat

Summary:

Tax Inspectors Without Borders (TIWB) is a joint initiative of the OECD and UNDP that supports countries to build tax audit capacities.   Effective domestic resource mobilisation is at the core of financing for sustainable development. But efforts to raise domestic resources are often constrained by tax evasion and avoidance, and by illicit financial flows. The Tax Inspectors Without Borders programme is an innovative and practical way of supporting developing countries to mobilise more domestic resources for development. Under TIWB, experienced tax auditors work on current tax audits and international tax issues alongside local tax officials so as to share expertise and skills, and build local capacities. TIWB programmes are active in 14 countries around the world, including Jamaica, Liberia and Zambia. This side event will share stories and lessons learned from programme countries and show how TIWB can support countries to mobilise more revenues for development.
