AD HOC COMMITTEE ON A COMPREHENSIVE
AND INTEGRAL INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION
ON PROTECTION AND PROMOTION
OF THE RIGHTS AND DIGNITY OF
PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

7th meeting

Organizational matters

The Ad Hoc Committee elected Mr. Enrique Manalo (Philippines) as the
Vice-Chairman of the Committee by acclamation.

The Ad Hoc Committee continued its general debate and heard the
statements made by the representatives of Brazil, Canada, Cameroon, Chile,
China, the Czech Republic, Denmark, (on behalf of the European Union),
Japan, India, Mexico, the Russian Federation, Sierra Leone, South Africa,
Suriname and the United States.

8th meeting

The Ad Hoc Committee continued its consideration of remaining
organizational issues and heard statements from the representatives of
Denmark (on behalf of the European Union), Jamaica, Malta, Mexico, Norway,
South Africa, Uganda and the United States, as well as the representative
of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The representatives of the following non-governmental organizations
also made statements: World Blind Union, Support Coalition International
and Madre Inc.
