AD HOC COMMITTEE ON A COMPREHENSIVE
AND INTEGRAL INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION
ON PROTECTION AND PROMOTION
OF THE RIGHTS AND DIGNITY OF
PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

13th meeting

The Committee continued its consideration of the question on the equality in economic, social and cultural rights and heard statements made by the representatives of Cameroon, Chile, Guatemela, Japan, Nigeria, the Philippines, Sierra Leone and South Africa.

The representatives of Communication Coordination Committee for the United Nations, Grey Panthers, Support Coalition International, Venture House and World Blind Union made statements.

14th meeting

The Ad Hoc Committee held panel discussions on agreed subjects and heard presentations from various United Nations programmes and agencies. The following experts made statements: Ms. Akiko Ito (Division for Social Policy and Development, Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA)), Ms. Jane Connors (Division for the Advancement of Women, DESA), Ms. Mary Beth Weinberger (Population Division, DESA), Ms. Mary Chamie (Statistical Division, DESA), Mr. Brian Burdekin (Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights), Mr. Gerald Quinn (author of the study of OHCHR), Ms. Gulbadan Habibi (United Nations Children’s Fund), Mr. Steve Miller (International Labour Organization), and Mr. Javier Vasquez (World Health Organization).

13e séance

Le Comité poursuit l’examen de la question de l’égalité des droits civils et politiques en entendant des déclarations des représentants du Cameroun, du Chili, du Guatemala, du Japon, du Nigéria, des Philippines, de la Sierra Leone et de l’Afrique du Sud.

Les représentants du Communication Coordination Committee for the United Nations, de Grey Panthers, de Support Coalition International, de Venture House et de l’Union mondiale des aveugles font des déclarations.

14e séance

Le Comité spécial tient des tables rondes sur des sujets approuvés et entend des exposés de programmes et d’institutions des Nations Unies.
