International, Regional and Subregional Organizations
The 1540 Committee accordingly welcomes and encourages efforts by international, regional and subregional organisations to support Member States in their implementation of resolution 1540 (2004). The Committee has participated in many events organized for this purpose by international, regional and subregional organisations, including for the purposes of general awareness-raising of the requirements of resolution 1540 (2004), or to focus on specific thematic areas relevant to the resolution. Some organizations have issued or are developing 1540-relevant guidance documents and model legislation for their membership. International, regional and subregional organisations also provide crucial support to the Committee’s assistance match-making mechanism.
