Background

In accordance with paragraph 46 of the Economic and Social Council resolution 2015/33, a working group of the Forum was established to develop proposals on matters referred to in paragraph 44 of the same resolution for consideration by the Forum at its special session. This includes proposals on: (a) replacement of the reference to the Millennium Development Goals in the Non-Legally Binding Instrument on all Types of Forests with an appropriate reference to the Sustainable Development Goals and targets; and (b) the strategic plan for the period 2017-2030 and the quadrennial programme of work for the period 2017-2020.
