Informal briefing on the Ad Hoc Committee

Upon request of the Ad Hoc Committee on Comprehensive and Integral Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Division for Social Policy and Development/DESA is organizing an informal briefing on the work of the United Nations concerning the promotion of the rights of persons with disabilities in conjunction with the meeting of the Ad Hoc Committee on TUESDAY, 6 August 2002 from 3:00-6:00pm in Conference Room 4.

The informal briefing will offer an opportunity for an open exchange between government representatives, the United Nations organizations and agencies, and non-governmental communities on issues concerning the rights of persons with disabilities. The briefing will discuss a broad range of activities of the United Nations in promoting the rights of persons with disabilities as well as substantive issues on international norms and standards relating to disability.
