On April 15, UNW-DPAC took part in a twitter chat organised by the Women in Public Service Project. One of the highlights was a twitter interview with Alice Bouman-Dentener of the Global Water Partnership, and founder of the Women for Water Partnership. Other participants included the Open Defecation Campaign, UN-Water, the Global Water Partnership, the Columbia Water Centre and more, along with members of the public.

The UN-Water Programme on Advocacy and Communication (UNW-DPAC) recognizes the importance of media professionals in developing awareness of water related issues. This programme intends to maintain a strong link between the UNW-DPAC office and the media, offering opportunities for the media to develop their understanding of water related issues through training activities, allowing a continual dialogue between various stakeholders and the media on water issues, facilitating access to reliable information materials on water and sanitation and producing consistent and informed coverage of water news and information on events and activities generated by the UN system.

The Journalist Workshop organized by the UN-Water Decade Programme on Advocacy and Communication (UNW-DPAC) in Tokyo, Japan, on the occasion of World Water Day 2014 gathered 25 journalists from 11 different Asian countries, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Korea, Pakistan, The Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam. Journalists expected to share their reporting experiences with other colleagues and learn from each other. Issues such as hydropower, the water-energy nexus and accessing accurate sources of information were part of their learning expectances.
