Women for Water Partnership (WfWP)
"We have moved from technical water management to more participatory and inclusive water governance. Partnerships are on the rise and there is increasing recognition that active engagement of women decreases irresponsible water use and pollution, prevents corruption and conflicts, and increases water efficiency and the sustainability of interventions.
The foundation of the Women for Water Partnership (WfWP) in 2004 brings together women's civil society groups from all over the world that work on the water-gender-development nexus. Now, ten years later, WfWP has presence in 100 countries, predominantly Low and Middle Income Countries. Our member organisations contribute to achieving universal access and the sustainable governance of water resources; and in this process, they engage and empower local women to become development agents in their communities and countries.
In the future, I hope that we will increase partnerships to achieve the Human Rights to Water and Sanitation in the coming decade. Working together creates a better society. "
