About the event
On 22 October 2025, during SBSTTA-27 in Panama City, Panama, the UN Forum on Forests Secretariat (UNFFS), the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and FAO will co-host a side event on Mainstreaming Forest Biodiversity: The key to KM-GBF Success.
The session will highlight the crucial role of forests in achieving the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM-GBF). It will showcase contributions from members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests, including joint analyses by CBD and UNFF on the synergies between the Global Forest Goals and National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs), as well as FAO’s assessment of updated NBSAPs.
The event will also spotlight progress towards KM-GBF Targets 2, 3 and 10, focusing on forest restoration, conservation and sustainable use, and their integration into broader national development strategies.
