The Forest Pavilion at COP30 embodied a shared global commitment to forests as a cornerstone of climate action, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development. It served as an inclusive, multi-stakeholder platform that brought together governments, civil society, Indigenous Peoples, youth, the private sector, academia, and international partners to advance the Global Forest Goals and the Paris Agreement.

Through dialogue, knowledge exchange, and partnership, the Pavilion highlighted the indispensable role of forests in achieving a just and resilient future for people and planet. It mobilised collaboration, action and finance, and amplified diverse voices to accelerate progress towards halting and reversing deforestation by 2030 and safeguarding the world’s forests for generations to come.

Key messages

For an overview of the Pavilion’s main insights and takeaways, the Key Messages page presents the core themes, priorities, and contributions that emerged across all sessions. It provides a consolidated reference for partners, delegates, and stakeholders seeking to build on the Pavilion’s outcomes throughout and beyond COP30.

Forests in the COP30 climate agenda

The Forest Pavilion unfolded against the backdrop of COP30 negotiations, where world leaders pressed for stronger commitments on adaptation finance, deeper emissions cuts, and a just transition away from fossil fuels. In public briefings, UN Secretary-General António Guterres stressed that keeping 1.5°C within reach requires compromise and urgency, including tripling adaptation finance and accelerating the transition to clean energy. He also reaffirmed the centrality of forests in global climate action, declaring that “it is imperative to halt and reversing deforestation by 2030 – so nature remains a shield, not a casualty.” His call directly echoes the ambition of the Global Forest Goals, underscoring that safeguarding all forests is indispensable to the world’s climate, biodiversity, and sustainable development objectives.

This broader momentum was further reflected in the launch of Brazil’s Tropical Forests Forever Facility (TFFF), a new initiative announced on the margins of COP30 to reward countries that succeed in halting deforestation. The TFFF aims to mobilize up to $4 billion annually towards 74 tropical and subtropical forest countries. By linking verified forest conservation to direct financial incentives — including dedicated support for local and Indigenous communities — the Facility marks a significant step toward expanding accessible, fair and results-based forest finance at the global level.
