"Cultivando Agua Boa" is a social-environmental program of Itaipu Binacional, made to find solutions to social and environmental problems in the municipalities that make up the Paraná Watershed. This program looks to establish criteria and conditions in order to guide social-environmental actions related with natural resource conservation, water quality and quantity, and the people’s quality of living. This is a movement of permanent participation where, apart from mitigating and correcting environmental impact, it works with society to change values regarding how to be/feel, live, produce and consume.
The side event’s objective is to present the Cultivando Agua Boa Programme in order to introduce the experience developed by Itaipu Binacional with this pioneer program in the area of public participation and promote the creation of networks, alliances, and synergies with other public and private entities to identify potential associates and collaborators from the Institute that might like to share this sustainable water management focus.
The side event will be a multidisciplinary gathering in which cooperating institutions, businesses, and public administrations will be placed in contact and invited to support the initiative and share the CAB methodology.
There will be a round table discussion with the participation of Nelton Friedrich, Itaipu Binacional Coordinating Director Jair Kotz, Itaipu Binacional Environmental Manager;Pedro Domanitsky, Director iof coordination of Paraguay of Itaipu Binacional; Jucerlei Sotoriva, Mayor of one of the municipalities surrounding Itaipú: Ivan Draganic, Global Water Solidarity (UNDP) .
During the event there would be a signature ceremony for twining among the Cultivando Agua Boa Programme and other initiatives such as: River contract of the Matarraña, Water Nexus, Municipality of Vitoria.
