2015 UN-Water Annual International Zaragoza Conference. Water and Sustainable Development: From Vision to Action. 15-17 January 2015

Your stay in Zaragoza

Visiting Zaragoza

Zaragoza, the capital city of Aragón province in Spain, stands on the banks of the Ebro River. Its streets and small squares conceal a splendid array of monumental Roman and Mudejar architecture.

You can find useful tourist information about Zaragoza from the Zaragoza City Council website.

Weather

Although winter is the coldest time of the year in Zaragoza, temperatures generally remain well above freezing. Ground frosts are infrequent and amongst the fresh, overcast days, many fine clear skies and sunny weather can be expected. However, be aware of wind chill days which can low temperatures 4-5ºC.

>> Visit the Spanish Meteorological Office for weather forecast

Visa arrangements

Participants are responsible for obtaining appropriate entry visas to Spain, if required by Spanish Authorities. Please ask the Spanish Embassies or visit the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

The official invitation letter and the Agenda may be used for visa purposes. The Secretariat of the conference remains at your disposal to provide administrative support if needed. Please contact Ms. Monica Garcés, phone +34-976 72 4220.

Security

Zaragoza is a very safe city, even at night. However, we would expect all participants to take the appropriate measures and be responsible for their own security, as recommended by the United Nations. We also advice you carry a copy of your Identification Card or passport at all times during your stay in Zaragoza.

Foreign exchange

The currency in Spain is the European Euro (€). We strongly recommend that you exchange your money at the airport or train station as currency exchange services may not be available at your arrival time. Local taxis, public transport, and restaurants will not accept any other currency.
