The Chair drew the attention of the Committee to the note by the Secretariat on the allocation of items to the Sixth Committee (A/C.6/80/1) and the organization of work (A/C.6/80/L.1).

Pursuant to General Assembly resolution 77/97 of 12 December 2022, the Committee established a Working Group on the responsibility of States for internationally wrongful acts to further examine with a view to taking a decision, the question of a convention on responsibility of States for internationally wrongful acts or other appropriate action on the basis of the articles proposed by the International Law Commission. The Working Group shall be open to all States Members of the United Nations or members of specialized agencies or of the International Atomic Energy Agency. The Committee elected Mr. Pedro Muniz Pinto Sloboda (Brazil) as the Chair of the Working Group.
Pursuant to General Assembly resolution 79/129 of 4 December 2024, the Committee established a Working Group on measures to eliminate international terrorism with a view to finalizing the process on the draft comprehensive convention on international terrorism as well as discussions on the item included in its agenda by Assembly resolution 54/110 concerning the question of convening a high-level conference under the auspices of the United Nations. The Working Group shall be open to all States Members of the United Nations or members of specialized agencies or of the International Atomic Energy Agency. The Committee elected Amb. Jayantha Chandrasiri Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka) as the Chair of the Working Group.
Pursuant to General Assembly resolution 79/128 of 4 December 2024, the Committee decided to establish a Working Group on protection of persons in the event of disasters during its resumed session tentatively scheduled for 6 to 10 April 2026, in order to prepare a consolidated text including the draft articles and the proposals submitted by Governments, within the framework of a working group of the Committee. The Working Group shall be open to all States Members of the United Nations and the relevant observers to the General Assembly. The Committee elected Amb. Enrique A. Manalo (Philippines) as the Chair of the Working Group.
