This partnership initiative intends to transfer dry sanitation to the communities via a solar energy system which dries up excreta and transforms it into fertilizers with no pathogens.
The MM (Módulo del Milenio, Millennium Module) is a response to the demands of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. In particular, GLASS targets for water and sanitation of the WHO-PAHO and 2014-2017 programs. Whilst also coordinating efforts between the mitigation of climate change impacts and the global promotion of sustainable development in vulnerable regions.
The UN recognition of Dubai is focused on the unique features of this model which is designed to operate in regions threatened by disaster or processes of urban disorder and chaos, especially in the peripheries of cities from emerging countries. The novelty of the model is that the solutions can be produced or manufactured by the same people in their region, expanding the so-called social economy and green jobs, a field increasingly necessary for the sustainability of the planet. This vast field of applications may be transferred to countries in Africa and those suffering great poverty.
